R2 Storytelling DVD Released This Week

Here in the States, Storytelling won't be hitting DVD and VHS for a couple more weeks, yet (July 16th); but those of us with Region 2, PAL set-ups can already pick it up. It came out on Tuesday, the 24th. Here's the cover art and specs:

Storytelling Soundtrack Due June 4th

The soundtrack to Storytelling has finally been properly announced for a June 4th release, from Matador Records. Apparently it features "34 minutes of new music from Belle and Sebastian, comprised of both instrumental film score and six new vocal tracks" (description from Amazon.com). Most on-line stores (CDNow, buy.com, Amazon, etc) now have this CD up for pre-order at $12.99 (it's actually $9.79 at CDUniverse... shop around, kids). Below is the album cover and track-listing:

Storytelling DVD Due July 16

Amazon.com, today, has added Storytelling to their DVD catalog as available for preorder (so far, no one else seems to have it listed, but this Tuesday I imagine that will change), with a release date set for July 16th from Warner Home Video. They list an 87 minute running time (which doesn't suggest any restored sequences - see old news), closed captioning and a widescreen picture. ...Still a little early to expect much word by way of extras, restoration (Amazon may well've just taken the running time from the IMDB, not any announced DVD specs) etc.; so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Storytelling soundtrack update

According to Belle & Sebastian's official site (belle&sebastian.co.uk), the soundtrack album for Storytelling is "looking like an early spring release date." The album will feature three original songs by B&S: "Scooby Driver," "I Don't Want To Play Football," and "Storytelling," as well as original music by Shudder to Think's Nathan Larson and the Cardigans' Nina Persson. Belle & Sebastian's next album, then, will reportedly feature "several songs and instrumental bits specifically for the film" that wound up "chopped up or excised entirely" from the film (according to Pitchfork Daily Music News (Will Bryant, 1/29/02).
